President Lee Jae Myung: "There Is Still a Long Way to Go on Gender Equality... We Will Eliminate Unreasonable Practices"

[Financial News] President Lee Jae Myung said on July 1, "Our society has steadily moved toward gender equality, but there is still a long way to go," pledging to address discrimination based on gender and unreasonable practices.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) marking Gender Equality Week, the president said, "True gender equality means creating a world where no one is discriminated against or excluded because of their gender." This year’s Gender Equality Week runs from July 1 through July 7.
The president stressed, "We must create a society that removes the prejudices remaining in everyday life, respects our differences, and allows everyone to enjoy equal rights."
He added, "So that all citizens can experience gender equality more broadly and deeply in their daily lives, the government will examine related systems and policies more carefully and eliminate unreasonable practices and barriers one by one."
He continued, "We will build a gender-equal Republic of Korea where everyone is guaranteed fair opportunities regardless of gender, can fully demonstrate their efforts and abilities, and receives fair treatment."
