[Financial News] Gmarket is offering special deals on products from sellers across the country’s farming and fishing communities affected by the heat wave and torrential rains through its Chuseok promotion, the '2026 Hangawi Big Sale,' which runs through the 22nd.
According to industry sources on the 2nd, Gmarket has created a 'Special Deals on Imperfect Agricultural and Fishery Products' section to support farms and fishing communities affected by abnormal weather. The move follows Gmarket’s donation of 300 million won for flood recovery and support for displaced residents in areas of South Gyeongsang Province recently hit by torrential rains, as well as its decision to help affected farms expand their sales channels.
The special-deal section operates in the 'Mart & Living' section of the Hangawi Big Sale. It offers domestically produced fruits, vegetables and fishery products that have cosmetic blemishes caused by heat waves and heavy rain but remain fully sound in quality at prices approximately 10% lower than regular products. Some items are also eligible for Gmarket’s guaranteed-arrival service, 'Star Delivery.'
Additional discounts are available when Hangawi Big Sale coupons are applied. Gmarket offers a 12% coupon providing a discount of up to 3,000 won on any purchase, as well as a 10% coupon offering up to 20,000 won off purchases of 50,000 won or more. The coupons can be obtained and used without limit during the promotional period.
Gmarket will feature around 60 products in the section. Key items include 'Geoje pesticide-free eco-friendly edible aloe,' 'Haenam imperfect new Sumi potatoes,' 'Haenam Neulhaerang imperfect sweet potatoes' and 'Seongju household-use imperfect oriental melons.' Direct-from-origin products from fishery sellers who have faced difficulties operating at sea will also be available.
A Gmarket representative said, "We created this section to give customers the opportunity to purchase Korean agricultural and fishery products at better prices, while helping affected local producer-sellers expand their sales channels." The representative added, "It will be a great opportunity to buy seasonal foods that may look slightly imperfect but offer excellent taste and prices."
