KOBC to Distribute Free KakaoTalk Emoticons Featuring Official Character ‘Maro’

[Financial News] The Korea Ocean Business Corporation announced on the 2nd that it will distribute free KakaoTalk emoticons featuring its official character, Maro.
The emoticons were created to allow Maro, previously featured in promotional content such as wallpapers and social media posts, to be used in more diverse ways. A total of 25,000 sets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis from 2 p.m. that day.
Maro was inspired by the finless porpoise, a native whale that has long inhabited Korean waters and is widely known as the so-called “smiling whale.” The set consists of 16 animated emoticons featuring emotions commonly expressed in everyday conversations and a range of situations.
Users can search for the Korea Ocean Business Corporation channel on KakaoTalk and add it as a friend to immediately receive a notification message with a download link for the emoticons. Those who have already added the channel as a friend will receive the emoticons automatically without having to apply separately. The downloaded emoticons can be used for 30 days.
KOBC President Ahn Byeong-gil said, “We created Maro with a variety of emotions and situations so that the corporation’s character can be used in everyday conversations.” He added, “We will continue communicating with the public through diverse content featuring Maro.”
