U.S. Republicans Step Up Fundraising, Offering Photo With Trump for $88,600 Donation

[Financial News] The Republican Party (GOP), facing the United States midterm elections in November, has introduced expensive “Trump merchandise” to raise campaign funds.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 1st, local time, that the Republican National Committee (RNC) had sent invitations to party donors for fundraising events related to its convention, scheduled for Sept. 9-10 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the GOP plans to offer a photo opportunity with U.S. President Donald Trump to anyone who donates at least $88,600 in political funds at the event. Participation in a discussion held alongside the convention on Sept. 9 is priced at $250,000 per person. Trump will also attend that event. The fee for a discussion chaired by U.S. Vice President JD Vance on Sept. 10 is $75,000 per person. An additional donation of $35,000 is required to take a photo with Vance.
This is the first time in history that a convention has been held ahead of the United States midterm elections. A Republican official who spoke with The Hill on the 30th of last month said there had not been enough time to prepare the schedule and remarked, “There was no need to rush this much.”
The GOP also collected money from lawmakers for the event. Republican House members reportedly had to pay $25,000 to attend. Some lawmakers were reportedly asked to contribute as much as $100,000.
The GOP’s focus on political events and fundraising is believed to reflect concerns about negative projections for its prospects in the November midterm elections. In a CBS News poll released last month, 40% of respondents viewed the GOP favorably, while 60% expressed a negative view of the party.
In a Fox News interview on the 30th of last month, Trump said, “Whether the president is a Republican or a Democrat, and whether he is a good president or a bad president, the party loses in the midterms,” adding, “Nobody knows why.” He added, “Some people like me more than they like the Republican Party.”
