[Financial News] When taking part in a paragliding experience, participants should keep running during takeoff even after their feet leave the ground. They should not stop or jump. Participants must check the fastening of their helmets and harnesses with the pilot and suspend the flight in bad weather.
On the 2nd, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority (TS) said it had produced and distributed a paragliding safety-education video to experience operators nationwide. The video covers the safety procedures participants should follow, from flight preparation through takeoff, flight, and landing.
The video explains the risks and preventive measures associated with takeoff and landing, when accidents most often occur, in a way that participants can easily understand. Paragliding accidents have included injuries caused by participants failing to wear safety equipment properly or by the pilot and participant falling together during takeoff.
Before the flight, participants should make sure they are wearing safety equipment, including a helmet and harness, correctly. They should not assess the fastening status on their own, but check it together with the pilot.
When weather conditions deteriorate because of rain, fog, strong winds, or other factors, participants must follow the pilot's instruction that the flight cannot proceed. While running for takeoff, they should continue running without stopping or jumping even after their feet leave the ground. The video is available for anyone to watch on TS's official YouTube channel.
Yong-Sik Jung, president of TS, said, "If you are planning to go paragliding this fall, be sure to watch the safety-guidelines video before boarding and actively participate in the safety check with the pilot so that you can enjoy a safe and pleasant flight."
