2027 Happy City construction budget at 568.9 billion won... up 95.9% from the previous year

[Financial News] The 2027 government budget proposal includes 568.9 billion won for the construction of the Administrative City. This is an increase of 278.5 billion won from this year, with the budget concentrated on major national facility construction projects, including the start of construction on the Presidential Office in Sejong City and the basic design of the National Assembly Sejong Complex.
According to the National Agency for Administrative City Construction on the 2nd, the 2027 government budget proposal includes 568.9 billion won for Happy City construction, a 95.9% increase from this year's 290.4 billion won.
The project receiving the largest allocation is the construction of the Presidential Office in Sejong City. Following the launch of the project this year, 205.7 billion won has been allocated to begin construction next year.
The National Assembly Sejong Complex has been allocated 119.1 billion won for its basic design. The National Agency for Administrative City Construction explained that it had expanded the construction budget for major national facilities, focusing on these two facilities.
A total of 44.2 billion won has been allocated to expand public security and judicial infrastructure. It is scheduled to be used for the construction of Sejong City Police and the Sejong District Court.
The government proposal also includes funding for urban infrastructure. A total of 17.3 billion won has been allocated for the construction of four metropolitan road routes, while 16 billion won has been allocated for the construction of complex community centers.
The budget for the National Museum Complex is 105.4 billion won. It will be used to prepare for the opening of the Museum of Urban Architecture next year, while also expanding Happy City's cultural and welfare infrastructure.
The government budget proposal will be finalized after deliberation by the National Assembly.
Park Sang-ok, Director General of Planning and Coordination at the National Agency for Administrative City Construction, said, "The 2027 budget proposal demonstrates the government's unwavering commitment to completing Sejong as the administrative capital, a key national agenda item," adding, "We will make every effort to ensure that the major projects are reflected without setbacks during the National Assembly's budget deliberations."
