Iranian President: Iran Can Reciprocate If the U.S. Upholds the Existing MOU Agreement

[Financial News] Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that if the United States fulfills its obligations under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed last June, Iran will also take immediate corresponding measures.
On the 1st (local time), President Pezeshkian conveyed through Iranian state media at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, "I make it clear that if the United States returns to its promises, the Islamic Republic (Iran) will respond immediately." This statement came shortly after the first direct conflict since late July, which included the U.S. military strike on Larak Island and Iran's retaliatory attacks on two U.S. Air Force bases in Jordan.
The agreement is a provisional agreement signed by the two countries in June to end the war that began with the U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran on February 28. However, it quickly lost momentum due to disagreements over the method of implementation. Iran has maintained its position that it will allow free navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a key strategic point for global oil transport, only if the United States implements the terms of the agreement.
President Pezeshkian emphasized that "war benefits no one," highlighting that there is still room to resolve the conflict with the United States through negotiation.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump stated in an interview with Fox News that there would be "punishment" for the Iranian attack. However, meeting with reporters in the White House Oval Office, he added that this renewed clash does not signify a return to all-out war.
