Seoul Welfare Foundation Operates AI-Based App to Support Independent Living for People with Developmental Disabilities

[Financial News] The Seoul Welfare Foundation said on the 2nd that it operates an artificial intelligence (AI)-based app called “An Ordinary Day” to help people with developmental disabilities live independently in their daily lives. Under an agreement signed with Yeon Law Firm in April, the foundation developed the app and is providing it to 45 people with developmental disabilities living in independent-living and supported housing participating in the Seoul Community-Based Housing Support Program for People with Disabilities.
“An Ordinary Day” is an AI-based app that helps users independently manage recurring daily activities, such as waking up, taking medication and maintaining personal hygiene. An alarm sounds at a designated time and is dismissed only after the resident photographs the relevant activity or taps an NFC chip. The app was developed to address the limitations of supporting care and independent living solely through designated support staff. Before introducing the app, the foundation conducted a preliminary survey. In early November, it plans to verify the app’s effectiveness by comprehensively assessing its usage and the extent to which users follow their daily routines.
Yoo Yeon-hee, director of the Seoul Welfare Foundation’s Social Services Support Center, said, "The introduction of the app is leading to actual changes in residents’ daily habits." She added, "Based on the effectiveness assessment, we will further develop the app and continue cooperating with relevant organizations so that people with disabilities can achieve stable independence in their communities."
