She Visited Departments Instead of Holding an Inauguration Ceremony: Kang Ji-seon Begins as Seogwipo Education Superintendent with a Focus on Communication and Listening

【Financial News Jeju = Reporter Jeong Yong-bok】 Kang Ji-seon, the 34th superintendent of the Seogwipo City Office of Education, began her first day by visiting every department and meeting with employees instead of holding a separate inauguration ceremony. She identified customized support centered on student growth, a safe educational environment, and communication with the education community as her key priorities.
According to the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education and the Seogwipo City Office of Education on the 2nd, Kang Ji-seon took office as the 34th superintendent of the Seogwipo City Office of Education on the 1st and immediately began reviewing major educational issues and ongoing projects.
Superintendent Kang did not hold a separate inauguration ceremony. Instead, she visited each department at the office, met with employees, and listened to updates on their work and opinions from the field.
Superintendent Kang outlined three priorities: customized support centered on student growth, the creation of a healthy and safe educational environment, and the operation of an education community based on communication and cooperation. Rather than unilaterally delivering education policies, she intends to focus on reflecting the needs of schools, educators, parents, and others in the education field in administrative decisions.

Superintendent Kang moved from her position as director of the Education Support Bureau at the Jeju City Office of Education to become superintendent of the Seogwipo City Office of Education in the regular personnel reshuffle for education officials effective September 1.
The Seogwipo City Office of Education oversees curricula and student support at kindergartens, elementary schools, and middle schools in the area, as well as teacher and school administration, educational welfare, and support for schools. The superintendent is the official responsible for on-site education administration, connecting local schools with the provincial office of education.
During her first meeting with employees, Superintendent Kang emphasized an administration that responds flexibly to the changing educational environment while not overlooking even the smallest voices from the field.
Kang Ji-seon, superintendent of the Seogwipo City Office of Education, said, "I will make communication and listening—paying attention even to the smallest voices from the field—the top priorities of my administration." She added, "We will pool our wisdom with employees to create educational changes that students and the education community can genuinely experience."
