U.S. Launches Additional Strikes on Iranian Territory in Military Response to Strait of Hormuz Clash

【Financial News New York = Reporter Lee Byung-chul】 The U.S. military carried out additional airstrikes against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran.
United States Central Command (CENTCOM) said on X on the 1st, local time, "The U.S. military began attacking IRGC targets in Iran at noon Eastern Time today." CENTCOM explained, "The attacks came in response to recent attempts by the IRGC to attack merchant vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. service members deployed in the region."
The airstrikes followed an exchange of attacks between the United States and Iran in the early hours of the 31st of last month. It was the first time in more than a month that the two countries had directly exchanged attacks.
Iran said at the time that it had launched missiles at U.S. military targets in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in retaliation for the United States’ attack on Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island. The United States, however, said it had acted to prevent Iran from laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
Tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global crude oil shipments, escalated again, prompting immediate reactions from international oil prices and financial markets. International oil prices jumped about 4% on the 31st following the earlier attacks by the two countries, while major U.S. stock indexes fell.
