[Financial News] Shin Hak-gi, president of Suhyup Bank, is seeking a second term.
According to the financial sector on the 1st, a total of six people submitted applications for Suhyup Bank's next president recruitment, including three internal candidates from Suhyup Bank and three external candidates, including Shin.
That day, Suhyup Bank's president recommendation committee closed the application process and plans to select the final interview candidates on the 9th. The interviews are scheduled for the 21st.
Shin is currently serving his first term, which is set to expire on Nov. 17.
The president recommendation committee consists of five members: three outside directors recommended by the government and two officials recommended by the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives. To be selected as the final presidential candidate, a nominee must win the support of at least four of the five committee members.
Since Suhyup Bank was spun off from the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives as a separate corporation in 2016, no sitting president has ever won a second term. Against this backdrop, Shin's application for the next president position is drawing attention to whether the bank will appoint its first president to serve a second term.
