President Lee Nominates PNU Professor Kye, Seungkyoon as Chair of Presidential Council on Intellectual Property

[Financial News] President Lee Jae Myung on the 1st nominated Pusan National University (PNU) professor Kye, Seungkyoon as chair of the Presidential Council on Intellectual Property.
Kang Yoo-jung, Chief Spokesperson at Cheong Wa Dae, announced the appointment in a written briefing that day.
The new chair is a legal scholar well versed in intellectual property law. He has also expanded his research into artificial intelligence (AI) and public contracts. Through various government committees and academic activities, he has contributed to the development of intellectual property policy and related legislation.
Cheong Wa Dae plans to use his expertise to broaden intellectual property policy beyond simple creation and protection, and into an industrial and growth strategy. It said that, as institutions and industries surrounding intellectual property are changing rapidly with the advance of AI and digital technologies, a proactive response is needed.
Kang said of Kye, "He is the right person to respond proactively to changes in the AI and digital transition environment, and to make intellectual property a key driver of national growth beyond its creation and protection."
She added, "We expect him to strengthen the expertise and effectiveness of the Presidential Council on Intellectual Property and faithfully serve as the control tower for the nation's intellectual property strategy."
