The gap between domestic sales and exports was clear. Domestic sales fell 43.3% from a year earlier, but year-to-date sales have remained close to last year's level. Exports, meanwhile, continued to perform well as sales rose in markets such as Turkey and Hungary, and cumulative exports also stayed above last year's pace.
KGM is moving especially quickly to expand in overseas markets. Last month, it launched the KGM brand in Myanmar for the first time and introduced its electric vehicle lineup, including the KGM Torres EVX and KGM Musso EV, to the local market. More than 500 people, including Chairman Gwak Jaeseon and other officials from both companies, attended the launch event in Yangon on Aug. 14. Through cooperation with local partner SSS Group, the company plans to supply 1,000 vehicles to Myanmar this year. Starting with Myanmar, it also plans to gradually expand its knock-down assembly business in Saudi Arabia and Vietnam.
At home, the company has focused more on strengthening brand experience than on sales. It is working to increase customer touchpoints by taking part in EV Trend Korea 2026 and sponsoring the 15th KG Ladies Open.
A KGM official said, "Because we wrapped up this year's wage and collective bargaining agreements earlier than usual, we are now able to improve production stability and efficiency." The official added, "We will work to boost sales by strengthening both our response to growing overseas demand and our efforts in the domestic market."
