Kia Continues Growth in August as Well... "267,675 Vehicles Sold Globally"

[Financial News] Kia extended its global sales growth last month as well. The company sold 267,675 vehicles at home and abroad in August, up 5.0% from the same month last year.
According to Kia Corporation on the 1st, sales by market showed domestic sales at 40,213 units, down 7.6% from a year earlier, while overseas sales rose 7.4% to 225,413 units. Special vehicle sales also jumped 93.9% to 1,049 units, helping support the overall result.
By model, the Kia Sportage led overall sales with 46,239 units, followed by the Kia Seltos with 35,698 and the Kia Sorento with 18,404.
In the domestic market, the Kia Sorento was the best seller with 6,397 units. By segment, RVs accounted for a large share of domestic sales at 26,233 units. After the Sorento, the Kia Carnival sold 4,186 units, the Kia Sportage 3,874, and the Kia Seltos 3,307.
Passenger car sales totaled 9,758 units, led by the Kia Ray with 3,718 units, the Kia K8 with 1,938, and the Kia K5 with 1,920. Commercial vehicle sales reached 4,222 units, driven by the Kia Bongo III with 2,385 units and the Kia PV5 with 1,744.
Overseas sales rose 7.4% year on year to 225,413 units. By model, the Kia Sportage was also the top seller in overseas markets with 42,365 units, followed by the Kia Seltos with 32,391 and the Kia K4 with 17,519. Special vehicle sales totaled 1,049 units, including 152 in Korea and 897 overseas.
A Kia official said, "Domestic sales declined from a year earlier due to fewer working days during the summer vacation period, but overseas sales continued to grow through tailored sales strategies based on demand in each region." The official added, "For the rest of the second half, we will continue to sustain sales growth momentum, focusing on electrified vehicles such as hybrids in the United States and EVs in Europe."
