[Financial News] The KOSPI ended higher, supported by buying from other corporations despite heavy selling by retail investors, institutions and foreign investors.
According to the Korea Exchange on the 9th, the KOSPI closed at 6,835.80, up 15.78 points, or 0.23%, from the previous day.
On the Korea Exchange Main Board, retail investors sold a net 422.2 billion won, foreign investors 533.1 billion won and institutions 729.7 billion won, while other corporations bought a net 1.6892 trillion won.
By sector, distribution (2.98%), insurance (2.15%) and finance (1.52%) were strong, while construction (-3.50%), machinery and equipment (-1.34%) and food and tobacco (-1.24%) were weak.
Among the largest-cap stocks, SK Group (7.52%), Samsung C&T Corporation (3.72%) and SK Square (2.89%) rose, while Mobile Tactical Cannon program (-3.99%), LG Energy Solution (-2.91%) and Samsung Electro-Mechanics (-1.92%) fell.
The KOSDAQ closed at 821.25, down 13.04 points, or 1.45%, from the previous day. Retail investors bought a net 518.1 billion won, while foreign investors and institutions sold a net 226.7 billion won and 286.3 billion won, respectively.
Lim Jeong-eun, a researcher at KB Securities, said, "Macro uncertainty continues as the physical clash between the United States and Iran pushed the U.S. 10-Year Treasury Yield above 4.75% intraday, its highest level since January last year, while international oil prices also rose." She added, "The KOSPI edged higher as the top two semiconductor stocks supported the index's downside."
She added, "Foreign investors and institutions have continued to post net selling in both domestic markets for three consecutive trading days." She noted, "Attention will now turn to when market demand improves."
