[Financial News] At an executive meeting on the 1st, Lee Chan-jin, governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, instructed officials to concentrate financial support on ensuring that housing can be supplied in large volumes at an early stage in Seoul and the Capital Region.
Lee also ordered the agency to expand the staffing for residential real estate project financing (PF) from a system handled by a single department to a cooperative structure with each relevant inspection bureau. He also asked that managers be assigned to each project site, including 325 residential projects in regulated areas of the Capital Region scheduled for supply by 2027, so they can be closely monitored.
If difficulties such as project delays arise, he instructed the agency to work actively with related institutions, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), as well as the financial sector. The goal is to ensure that tailored support is provided to each project site in a timely manner.
The Financial Supervisory Service plans to mediate financing-related difficulties by linking them with the financial sector and policy guarantee institutions, while discussing other project-related issues with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and others. Lee emphasized, "For projects scheduled to be supplied within 2027, manage them specially so that the supply schedule is not delayed, and also look for ways to accelerate supply."
Meanwhile, the government previously announced that, under the Aug. 13 housing supply package, it would expand the number of public housing units to begin construction to 180,000, including 100,000 on newly designated sites in the Capital Region.
