[Financial News] The Financial Services Commission (FSC) said on the 1st that 1,150 candidates passed the final round of the 61st Certified Public Accountant Examination (CPA Exam) for 2026.
A total of 4,368 people took this year's exam, resulting in a pass rate of 26.3%. That was 1.6 percentage points lower than last year.
The top scorer was Hyun Woo-jin, 25, a student at Seoul National University, with an average score of 80.8 points. The youngest successful candidate was Cho Seong-woo, 20, also a student at Seoul National University.
Among the successful candidates, 959 were deferred applicants who had passed the first round last year, accounting for 83.4% of the total. There were 97 simultaneous passers, or 8.4%, and 93 repeat candidates, or 8.1%.
The average age of the successful candidates was 27.1, down 0.1 year from last year. Men accounted for 58.9% and women for 41.1%, while business and economics majors made up 69.2%.
A total of 1,825 candidates passed only part of the exam, down 202 from last year. The list of successful candidates and their scores can be checked on the FSC and Financial Supervisory Service CPA Exam websites. The 2027 exam schedule is expected to be announced in November.
