[Financial News] "Our son is working so hard. He looks so strong and admirable."
On the 1st, the Ministry of National Defense uploaded a video to YouTube showing a special secret operation organized with McDonald's to encourage service members carrying out coastal security duties.
The event was held for service members of the Army's 23rd Guard Brigade, who protect a 160-kilometer stretch along the front line of the East Coast.
The soldiers patrol this long stretch every day to search for evidence of enemy infiltration across the fence. With an average age of 21.6, they routinely suffer ankle and knee pain from walking along areas battered by waves and covered with slippery rocks.
One service member said, "Because we are the unit that guards the coastline from the front line, we have developed a sense of duty that civilians can live safely only if we fulfill our responsibilities."
When asked, "What do you miss most in the military?" they all expressed longing for ordinary daily life and their families. One service member shared a modest wish, saying, "In civilian life, a hamburger is something you can get just by placing an order, but we can't eat one here." He added, "I want to play games with my friends at night and eat something delicious."
At the end of the patrol route, a booth had been set up. A message appeared: "We thank you for protecting our country. Would you like to order a burger of happiness?"
The service members who ordered food headed to the main booth, where the families they had been missing were waiting inside.
Those reunited after a long time hugged one another and shed tears. Their families encouraged them, saying, "Our son is working so hard," "He looks so strong and admirable," and "I didn't know you were having such a hard time. I thought you had it easy, but I'm so proud of you." The soldiers, surprised and deeply moved, said, "How did you come all the way here?" and "How did you get here? You should have at least told me you were coming."
The surprise event, organized for the service members protecting the country, gave everyone unforgettable memories and heartfelt emotion.
Viewers who watched the video left comments such as, "We are always grateful to all the service members working hard in the hot weather," "This is the first time I've cried while watching an advertisement," and "It brings me to tears. I support and thank all the service members who are working so hard."
