A man in his 70s walking along the roadway late at night was struck and killed by a taxi changing lanes

[Financial News] An elderly man in his 70s was struck and killed in Busan after being hit by a taxi that was changing lanes while he was walking along the outer roadway late at night.
Busan Gijang Police Station said on the 1st that it received a report of an accident in which a taxi driver in his 70s, identified as A, hit pedestrian B, also in his 70s, at around 10:48 p.m. on the 31st of last month while driving in the second lane of Bansong-ro toward Anpyeong station in Gijang County.
Police responded to the scene and rushed B to a nearby hospital, but he was later confirmed dead.
According to police, A was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. B was also not in a situation where he was trying to cross illegally; he was walking along the outer roadway.
A police official explained, "It appears that A changed lanes from the second lane to the first lane and did not see B, who was walking along the first lane, before hitting him." The official added, "We are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident based on the vehicle's black box footage and other evidence."
