Special Counsel Team Dismisses Complaint Accusing Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae of Martial Law Involvement: "No New Facts Found"

[Financial News] The special counsel team investigating multiple cases dismissed a complaint against Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Korea Cho Hee-dae, who had been accused of participating in the insurrection during the December 3 Martial Law declaration.
In a notice to the press on the 1st, the special counsel team said that in connection with Cho's case, it had dismissed the complaint after questioning the complainant on the 20th of last month because no new facts were confirmed.
A dismissal is a decision that closes a case without a full investigation when there is a clear reason not to prosecute, such as no criminal charge or no grounds for prosecution, or when there is no need for an investigation.
Cho was accused of failing to point out the unconstitutional and illegal nature of martial law or take steps to block it when it was declared, as the head of the judiciary at the time.
The complainant reportedly took issue in particular with the fact that Cho convened an emergency meeting of senior officials immediately after the martial law declaration but did not issue any official statement of opposition or refusal from the Supreme Court of Korea.
