RICON Marks 20th Anniversary with Seminar on Innovation in Specialized Construction and the AI Future

[Financial News] The Korea Research Institute for Construction Policy (RICON) will mark its 20th anniversary by discussing innovation strategies for the specialized construction industry and the changes that AI and smart construction will bring to the sector.
RICON said on the 1st that it will hold its 20th anniversary ceremony and seminar at 2 p.m. on Oct. 1 in the main conference room on the fourth floor of the Specialized Construction Hall in Seoul.
Held under the slogan "RICON 20 Years, Envisioning a Bigger Future," the ceremony will highlight the institute's achievements over the past two decades and its future vision. A calligraphy pre-event, performance presentation, commemorative video screening and keynote speech are also planned.
Park Sang-woo, former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and RICON's fourth president, will deliver a keynote speech titled "Let’s Give the Construction Industry Wings with AI." He is expected to present the direction the construction industry should take amid technological change, including AI.
The following seminar will focus on changes in the construction market and future technologies. Park Seon-gu, head of RICON's Economic and Financial Research Division, will present "Innovation Strategies for Specialized Construction in Response to Changes in the Construction Market," while Kim Tae-joon, head of the New Growth Strategy Research Division, will speak on "The Future of Specialized Construction Shaped by AI and Smart Construction."
The panel discussion will be chaired by Han Seung-heon, president of the Korean Society of Civil Engineers. Experts from related fields will participate to discuss changes at construction sites and policy directions to respond to them.
Founded in 2006, RICON has researched key issues related to the construction industry and specialized construction, while offering policy alternatives. To mark its 20th anniversary, it will also open a "20th Anniversary Hall" section on its YouTube channel. It plans to release a series of videos, including congratulatory relay messages, a look back at the institute's 20 years, future prospects and an introduction to the commemorative seminar.
Kim Hee-soo, head of RICON, said, "I hope this event will be a place to look back on the institute's past journey, envision an even bigger future, and seek future visions and innovation strategies to prepare for the next 20 years of the construction industry and specialized construction industry in the coming era of transformation."
