Yeongwol County finalizes first supplementary budget at 696.1 billion won, up 32.7 billion won from the original budget

[Financial News, Yeongwol = Reporter Kim Gi-seop] Yeongwol County has finalized its first supplementary budget for 2026 at 696.1 billion won, up 32.7 billion won from the original budget.
According to Yeongwol County on the 1st, the first supplementary budget for 2026 was finalized on August 31 after approval at a plenary session of the county council. The supplementary budget is 4.93% larger than the original budget. By account, the general account increased by 66.6 billion won, while the special account decreased by 33.9 billion won.
The supplementary budget focuses on reflecting changes in national and provincial subsidy projects amid difficult fiscal conditions and on ensuring that major pending issues and ongoing projects not included in the original budget move forward without disruption. Resources were concentrated on areas with a strong impact on residents, including road maintenance and small-scale facility repairs, as well as projects tied closely to daily life, such as boosting the local economy, supporting vulnerable groups, improving living conditions, expanding cultural and tourism infrastructure, and strengthening agricultural competitiveness.
It also includes major ongoing projects such as the Deokpo District urban development project and the project to build a test bed for special-purpose manned and unmanned drones. In addition, it will support efforts to revive the local economy by issuing and operating local currency and by assisting small business owners. Yeongwol County plans to quickly review project schedules and the status of prior administrative procedures, then allocate funds early to projects that can be executed within the year. In particular, it will speed up projects directly linked to residents' daily lives so that the effects of the supplementary budget are felt in the local economy and by county residents as soon as possible.
Eom Gyeong-ok, head of the Planning and Audit Office of Yeongwol County, said, "This budget allocates limited resources efficiently and places weight on stabilizing livelihoods and resolving local issues." She added, "We will swiftly and responsibly execute the finalized budget so that the county slogan, 'Yeongwol on the move again, opening the future together,' leads to tangible results."
