Teachers to Design Their Own Textbooks... MiraeN Holds Contest for Elementary Korean Unit Planning

[Financial News] MiraeN is launching a contest in which current and prospective teachers directly design textbook units, aiming to develop next-generation textbooks that reflect the voices of schools. MiraeN said it will hold the "2026 Elementary Korean Textbook Unit Design Contest" from the 1st through December 31. The event is a participatory project that moves teachers away from the passive role of simply using existing textbooks. Based on the achievement standards of the 2022 revised curriculum, participants will plan and write one unit, consisting of about five class periods. The company said the goal is to identify teaching methods and learning materials actually needed in classrooms, use them as basic data for future textbook development, and strengthen the competitiveness of its educational content.
Oh Young-ok, head of MiraeN's textbook division, said, "We will discover creative ideas from the education field and create textbooks that are truly useful for both students and teachers."
Eligible participants are elementary school teachers and prospective teachers nationwide, and they may enter individually or in teams of up to three people. Entries will be judged on overall structure and completeness (40 points), suitability for classroom use (30 points), and creativity of content (30 points).
A total of 11 works will be selected, with prize money including 5 million won for the grand prize. The school affiliated with the grand prize winner will also receive a donation of 100 children's books. The final results will be announced on February 5 next year.
