[Financial News] A man in his 30s has been arrested after brandishing a weapon at a convenience store employee because his request for alcohol credit was refused. The victim had reportedly asked police for personal protection after receiving threats for three days before the attack, but no special measures were taken.
According to JTBC's 'Scandal Supervisor' on the 1st, Bucheon Ojeong Police Station in Gyeonggi Province arrested A, a man in his 30s, on suspicion of attempted murder on the 10th of last month. A is accused of trying to kill B, a woman in her 60s who worked at a convenience store in Bucheon's Ojeong District, by stabbing her with a weapon on the 7th of last month.
Three days before the attack, on the 4th of last month, A visited the store and asked to buy alcohol on credit. After being refused, he scattered coins on the floor and caused a disturbance outside the store. Police who responded to the report warned A not to return to the store.
However, A reportedly returned to the store the next day and threatened B, saying he would stab her in the neck with a weapon. B recorded the threats and handed them over to police while requesting protection, but police are said to have told her to call the 112 Police Emergency Number if an urgent situation arose.
On the day of the incident, A entered the convenience store carrying a weapon about 40 cm long and shouted, "You said you would kill me with a knife," before swinging it at B's neck and chest. B twisted her body to avoid vital areas, but was stabbed in the shoulder and arm.
A male employee in his 70s, C, who was working with her, blocked A with a plastic chair and then wrestled the weapon away. B underwent suturing surgery after an artery in her shoulder was severed and was diagnosed with four weeks of treatment.
A was sent to prosecutors while in custody. B reportedly lives in the same villa building as A's parents and is worried that he may seek revenge after his release.
