[Financial News] Hana Securities has launched an event for VIP clients of Hong Kong-based Futu Securities as part of efforts to promote Korea's capital market.
Hana Securities said on the 1st that it held the 'Discover Korea' event from the 26th to the 28th of last month, inviting VIP clients from Futu Securities to South Korea to introduce major Korean companies and the country's capital market.
The event was designed to give global investors a direct look at the growth strategies of major Korean industries and companies, while also sharing the perspectives of domestic capital market experts.
Over the three-day program, participants met with major Korean companies including Amorepacific Corporation, JYP Entertainment, Hyundai Motor Company, Hana Financial Group Inc., Hanwha Ocean, LG Energy Solution and SK Group. They discussed the current state of key industries such as beauty, entertainment, automobiles, finance, shipbuilding and secondary batteries, as well as each company's business strategy.
At an expert seminar, Kim Rok-ho, a semiconductor sector analyst at Hana Securities' research center, explained the semiconductor market outlook and the competitiveness of Korean companies amid expanding global AI investment. In addition, Yang Seung-hoo, head of equity management at Hana Asset Management Company Ltd., presented the investment appeal and key strategies of the Korean stock market from the perspective of domestic institutional investors, while Sun-Yup Lee, CEO of AFW Partners, shared his outlook on structural changes in Korea's capital market and future investment opportunities.
Hana Securities is working with Futu Securities to fully launch foreign integrated account trading, improving access for global investors to the domestic stock market. A foreign integrated account is a system that allows overseas investors to trade Korean stocks through a local securities firm without opening an account with a Korean broker.
Hana Securities began offering foreign integrated account services with Emperor Capital Group Limited in Hong Kong last October for the first time in the industry, and expanded the partnership this year to include Capital Partners Securities in Japan and Futu Securities. Through these efforts, more than 1 trillion won in net foreign buying has flowed in so far. Going forward, Hana Securities plans to expand the service to Hong Kong's CITIC Securities and U.S.-based Wedbush Securities.
Heo Tae-hyung, head of Hana Securities' overseas sales division, said, "Through this event, we enabled global investors to communicate directly with leading Korean companies and gain a range of perspectives from domestic capital market experts," adding, "We will continue to expand cooperation with Futu Securities and other global financial firms to improve foreign investors' access to the domestic market and broaden the points of contact with Korea's capital market."
