[Financial News] Among exchange-traded funds (ETFs) listed on the domestic stock market in the second half of this year, Samsung Asset Management's 'KODEX' drew overwhelming support from individual investors.
1 According to Samsung Asset Management, a total of 28 ETFs were listed on the domestic stock market in the second half, and net individual buying for these products came to 744 billion won. Of those, the three ETFs newly listed by Samsung Asset Management recorded 686.3 billion won in net individual buying, taking first place with a 92.2% share.
Samsung Asset Management launched 'KODEX 200 Covered Call Active' in July, followed by 'KODEX US CPU Semiconductor TOP10' and 'KODEX Korea TDF 2065 Active Qualifying ETF' last month. In particular, 'KODEX 200 Covered Call Active' was the most popular choice among individual investors. Since the second half began, 680.9 billion won in net individual buying has flowed into the ETF, making it the top performer among newly listed ETFs.
KODEX 200 Covered Call Active is an ETF that focuses on key domestic industries and leading companies while pursuing stable monthly distributions and excess returns through a flexible options-selling strategy. Based on investment in the KOSPI 200 Index, it uses a covered call strategy that secures premiums by selling call options.
KODEX US CPU Semiconductor TOP10 is designed to capture the shift in the AI industry, where the center of gravity is moving from graphics processing units (GPUs) to AI agents and data center systems. It invests mainly in leading global central processing unit (CPU) companies such as Arm, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD), and Intel, while also including the broader semiconductor value chain.
KODEX Korea TDF 2065 Active Qualifying ETF is a product that automatically adjusts the share of risky assets according to the investor's life cycle using domestic stocks and bonds. Moving away from the assumption that TDFs invest in global markets, it builds its portfolio entirely with domestic assets. Because it meets the requirements for a qualifying TDF, it can be invested in 100% through retirement accounts such as Defined Contribution Retirement Pension (DC) and Individual Retirement Pension (IRP).
A Samsung Asset Management official said, "In the ETF market, what matters more than simply launching a new theme is how clearly a product presents the investment solutions that investors actually need," adding, "We plan to continue introducing differentiated products not only in covered calls, but also in areas such as semiconductors and pensions, where investor demand is expanding rapidly."
