Song Jae-geun Takes Office as Executive Vice Chairman of the Corporate Insurance Agency Association... First GA Sector Vice Chairman from the FSC

[Financial News] Song Jae-geun, executive vice chairman of the corporate insurance agency association, officially took office on the 1st. It is the first time that a former official from the Financial Services Commission (FSC) has been appointed executive vice chairman of the GA sector.
According to the Korea Insurance Agents Association, Song was appointed executive vice chairman at the first regular general meeting for 2026, which was held by written resolution from Aug. 10 to 13. His term runs for two years, from Sept. 1, 2026, to Aug. 31, 2028.
Song is a finance and insurance expert who has built a 36-year career in financial policy and insurance systems. He began his public service career in 1988 at the insurance policy division of the Ministry of Finance and later served as head of the innovation administration and personnel team at the FSC, as a director at the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), and as an audit officer.
He later gained experience in the insurance and mutual finance sectors as executive director of the Korea Life Insurance Association and chief business executive at the National Credit Union Federation of Korea.
As institutional changes in insurance sales channels, along with stronger consumer protection and internal controls, emerge as key issues, Song's appointment is expected to bring changes to the GA industry's policy response and its communication with financial regulators and related institutions.
Song said, "I feel a great sense of responsibility to take on this important role as vice chairman of the association at a time when insurance sales channels are changing rapidly and social demands for consumer protection and internal controls are rising."
He added, "Based on the experience and network I have built over the past 36 years across the public and private sectors, I will actively communicate with financial authorities and related institutions. I will do my utmost to promote the healthy development of the GA industry and serve as a stepping stone for member companies' growth."
Kim Yong-tae, president of the Korea Insurance Agents Association, said, "Vice Chairman Song is a finance and insurance expert with not only deep knowledge of financial policy and insurance systems, but also broad experience in the life insurance and mutual finance sectors." He added, "At a time when institutional changes in insurance sales channels are accelerating, we expect him to play a major role in strengthening the association's policy response capabilities and external communication capacity."
