According to the Community Chest of Korea on Aug. 1, the 24th "Love Plus" donation handover ceremony was held on July 31 at Community Chest of Korea Hall in Jung District, Seoul. Hwang Gi-soon, Park Sang-min, singer Kang Jin and other performers attended, along with Chairman Yoon Yeo-joon and acting Secretary General Lee Sang-ik, who opened the donation boxes.
This street fundraising campaign took place from July 27 to 30 in Namdaemun, Seoul, and Wolmido Island, Incheon. More than 40 entertainers, including singers Kang Jin and Jin Seong, took part in talent-donation performances and encouraged public participation.
"Love Plus" began in 2000, when Hwang Gi-soon donated 52 wheelchairs purchased with funds raised through a campaign to organizations for people with disabilities. It later expanded through bicycle treks across the country and street performances. This year's cumulative fundraising total has reached 765.8 million won. Spread across 24 events, that works out to more than 3.19 million won per event.
The charity event, which combines celebrity talent donations with on-site public fundraising, has continued for more than 20 years. Park Sang-min joined in 2005, and the two were appointed honorary ambassadors for the Community Chest of Korea in 2010 and 2013, respectively.
Hwang Gi-soon said, "I would like to thank Park Sang-min and everyone who has stood with us for so long. We will continue sharing with the public for as long as we are able."
