Eastar Jet Begins Regular Zhangjiajie Flights on Its First Daegu Route

[Financial News, Daegu = Kim Jang-wook] Eastar Jet has opened its first office in Daegu and launched its first flight from the city.
Eastar Jet began operating the Daegu-Zhangjiajie route on the 1st.
The Daegu-Zhangjiajie route is Eastar Jet's first route from Daegu and will operate every Tuesday and Friday. A Boeing 737-800 with 189 seats will be deployed.
The outbound flight departs Daegu International Airport at 11:15 a.m. and arrives at Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport at 1:35 p.m. local time. The return flight leaves Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport at 2:35 p.m. and arrives at Daegu International Airport at 6:35 p.m.
To mark the launch of the Daegu-Zhangjiajie route, Eastar Jet held a ceremony at Daegu International Airport on the day, attended by Cho Joong-seok, CEO of Eastar Jet, Choo Kyung-ho, Mayor of Daegu, Inhwan Im, chair of the Daegu Metropolitan Council, Huh Joo-hee, head of the Glocal Business Division at KAC, and other officials.
Cho Joong-seok said, "This launch of the Daegu-Zhangjiajie route reflects Eastar Jet's determination to further expand its role as an airline connecting regions with the world." He added, "We hope it will not only broaden travel options for residents of the Yeongnam region, but also contribute to the growth of local tourism and the economy."
Choo Kyung-ho said, "Eastar Jet's first flight from Daegu will serve as a turning point for Daegu International Airport to overcome stagnation and take a new leap forward." He urged the airline to trust in the competitiveness of Daegu Metropolitan City and Daegu International Airport and work together to open more routes.
The launch of the Daegu-Zhangjiajie route follows Eastar Jet's securing of international air transport rights for 11 Chinese routes from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in April.
Eastar Jet also plans to launch a Daegu-Shanghai route in the first half of next year.
Meanwhile, Daegu Metropolitan City plans to pursue a range of measures to encourage airlines to expand their routes with confidence.
It will first significantly increase financial support for airlines in 2027, foster hub carriers, and identify effective support measures to attract foreign tourists and charter flights. The city also plans to improve airport accessibility and convenience for passengers.
