Yuhan Corporation to Collaborate with K-MEDI hub on New Drug R&D

[Financial News] Yuhan Corporation is launching a collaboration on new drug research and development (R&D) with the Daegu Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation (K-MEDI hub).
Yuhan Corporation said on the 1st that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with K-MEDI hub to strengthen its innovative drug pipeline.
The agreement was designed to expand opportunities for joint research on promising drug candidates by linking Yuhan Corporation's drug development capabilities with K-MEDI hub's research infrastructure and technical support system.
The two sides will cooperate on identifying and carrying out joint new drug research projects, exchanging research personnel, providing technical support such as research facilities and advanced equipment, and building a medical industry network.
Yuhan Corporation plans to strengthen open innovation by using K-MEDI hub's specialized researchers and research infrastructure, and to expand the scope of cooperation into joint research and technology partnerships depending on specific future needs.
Kim Yeol-hong, head of R&D at Yuhan Corporation, said, "For the development of innovative new drugs, cooperation that organically connects diverse research capabilities and infrastructure is important." He added, "We hope to combine the strengths of both institutions to identify promising drug development projects and turn them into meaningful research results."
Park Gu-seon, chairman of K-MEDI hub, said, "It is meaningful to establish a new drug R&D cooperation framework with Yuhan Corporation, a leading pharmaceutical company in Korea." He added, "We will actively use our specialists and research infrastructure to support joint research and contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of Korea's new drug development industry."
The two sides plan to discuss detailed areas of cooperation and draw up a concrete business plan before launching full-scale joint research.
