[Financial News, Jeonnam-Gwangju = Reporter Hwang Tae-jong] Kumho Tire has won awards at all three of the world's most prestigious design competitions, following Germany's iF and Red Dot Design Awards and now the U.S. IDEA Design Awards, underscoring its design competitiveness to lead the future mobility era.
According to Kumho Tire on the 1st, the company received a bronze award in the Concepts & Speculative Design category at the 2026 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), one of the world's most prestigious design competitions.
IDEA is an international design award hosted by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and is regarded as one of the world's top three design awards alongside Germany's iF and Red Dot Design Awards. Winners are selected after a comprehensive evaluation of factors such as design innovation, user benefits, and social contribution.
Kim Young-jin, executive vice president and head of Kumho Tire's R&D division, emphasized, "This IDEA award is the result of recognition for Kumho Tire's efforts to address the future mobility environment and its innovative design capabilities."
Kumho Tire also won the iF and Red Dot Design Awards in Germany again this year, following last year's wins, and with this year's IDEA Design Award in the United States, it has swept the world's top three design awards for two consecutive years.
In particular, the future modular tire Omni Ring, which won a bronze award in the Concepts & Speculative Design category at this year's IDEA Design Awards, also received a main prize at the iF and Red Dot Design Awards. Optimized for future transportation systems, it is a modular tire capable of moving in multiple directions. Various pattern designs have been applied so it can deliver optimal performance depending on driving conditions and mobility needs, and the number of units can be flexibly adjusted according to the size and shape of the mobility platform.
Kim Young-jin said, "We will continue to develop products and designs that reflect the changing mobility environment and customer needs, and strengthen our global brand competitiveness."
