[Financial News, Andong = Kim Jang-wook] Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government has drawn attention by deciding to work with Hana Bank to provide preferential support for local companies, including tailored financial programs.
Gyeongsangbuk-do, in step with the government's Five Mega-Regions and Three Special Self-Governing Provinces Strategy for balanced regional growth, will cooperate with Hana Bank to foster the province's 10 key industries and connect them with productive finance. The goal is to support innovation-driven growth and management stability for small and medium-sized enterprises and companies operating in industrial complexes.
To that end, the provincial government signed a memorandum of understanding on the growth of local SMEs and the linkage of productive finance at the provincial government office on the 1st.
Under the agreement, the two sides will cooperate to provide tailored financial programs based on productive finance, including technology finance and support for innovative growth, for SMEs and industrial complex tenants in the province.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, "For companies to invest and grow in the region, financial support is as important as an industrial base," adding, "I hope this agreement will lead to practical financial cooperation that supports investment and growth for Gyeongsangbuk-do companies."
The agreement also includes preferential support for visiting financial services, as well as foreign currency exchange and remittance services, to make financial transactions more convenient for businesses.
The provincial government expects the agreement to help promote investment and innovation-driven growth among local companies and strengthen the competitiveness of regional industries by reinforcing the link between financial support and industrial policy.
In particular, Hana Financial Group plans to supply a total of 100 trillion won in productive and inclusive finance over five years from 2026 to 2030 through its "Hana Financial Group and Hana All Growth Project."
Of that amount, 84 trillion won will go toward investment and lending for advanced industries, strategic industries, venture firms and innovative companies, while 16 trillion won will be allocated to financial support for SMEs, small business owners, workers and the general public. The agreement is also expected to expand financial support for companies in Gyeongsangbuk-do.
Lee Jae-heon, Director & Deputy President of Hana Bank's Yeongnam Sales Group, said, "Through this memorandum of understanding with Gyeongsangbuk-do, Hana Bank will do everything it can to help raise the competitiveness of local companies."
