Yuyu Pharma speeds up robot adoption in production processes... pushes automation at Jecheon plant

[Financial News] Yuyu Pharma is accelerating automation in its manufacturing process by introducing robots to the production line at its Jecheon plant.
Yuyu Pharma announced on the 1st that it had been selected for the Advanced Manufacturing Robot Demonstration Project run by the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement (KIRIA) under the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Through this project, the company plans to build a robot-based automation system for the secondary packaging process for Omega soft capsule prescription drugs at the Jecheon plant.
The process, which is currently operated manually, will introduce AI vision inspection equipment, multi-vision automated aggregation using articulated robots, a box product loading system, as well as carton erectors, sealers and labelers. As a key production line at the Jecheon plant, it runs at an average daily utilization rate of more than 100 percent, and the company aims to boost productivity and work efficiency through automation.
The Advanced Manufacturing Robot Demonstration Project supports the digital transformation of manufacturing by applying robot process models to real production sites. Selected companies can receive up to 200 million won in government funding. A robot process model is a technical manual that includes manufacturing process analysis using robots, system configuration, design drawings and operating procedures.
Yuyu Pharma expects the robot introduction to improve productivity, reduce defect rates and cut costs. It also hopes to improve working conditions by preventing musculoskeletal disorders and easing the burden on workers.
Park No-yong, CEO of Yuyu Pharma, said, "We expect the introduction of robots into the production process to improve key indicators such as productivity, quality and cost, while also creating a safer working environment and reducing the workload on employees."
