JNU Holds Forum on Public Procurement, Intellectual Property and R&D, Pledges Continued Support for Local Companies

[Financial News, Jeju = Jung Yong-bok] Jeju National University said it will provide one-stop consultations for local companies on public procurement, intellectual property, startup and technology commercialization, and research and development (R&D), then connect them to follow-up support such as technology development, joint industry-academia research and student employment.
According to JNU on the 1st, the university's Startup Support Team and RISE Project Team held the "Startup Lunch Talk (JNU Corporate Networking Day)" at Inda Hall on the third floor of the JNU Museum on Aug. 27.
More than 80 people attended, including companies participating in the 2026 Early-Stage Startup Package, JNU-affiliated faculty and companies, family companies, and business representatives from across Jeju.
The program began with awards for outstanding industry-academia cooperation companies, followed by an introduction to JNU's business support programs, expert lectures aimed at strengthening corporate capabilities, customized consultations by sector and networking among companies.
The key feature of the event was that it brought together company support services scattered inside and outside the university in one place.
Consultation booths were run by the Jeju Regional Public Procurement Service, the Jeju Intellectual Property Center, the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, Jeju National University, the RISE Project Team and the Business Incubation Center. They listened to each company's difficulties and cooperation needs, ranging from public procurement and intellectual property to startup support, technology commercialization and regional cooperative R&D, and guided them to relevant support systems and linkage measures.
Expert lectures were also held on improving companies' product planning capabilities and expanding access to public sales channels. Participating companies shared business information and experience, while also exploring possible cooperation among themselves.
JNU plans to connect the needs identified at the event, including technology development, joint industry-academia research and student employment, with relevant departments and support programs on campus. It also plans to expand membership in its family company network, maintain cooperation with businesses after the event and continue follow-up support.
The event was organized as part of the 2026 Early-Stage Startup Package and the RISE project. Rather than simply introducing business support programs, it focused on directly identifying company needs on site and linking them with JNU's human and material resources.
O Wook, head of the RISE Project Team at Jeju National University, said, "We will connect local companies' on-site needs with the university's research personnel and support programs so that they lead to technology development and talent cultivation," adding, "We will do our best to create industry-academia cooperation results that companies can actually feel."
