Jeju to Hit 31 C on the First Day of September as Tropical Nights Continue After Showers

[Financial News, Jeju = Reporter Jung Yong-bok] Although September has begun, Jeju will continue to see intense heat and tropical nights for the time being, with daytime highs climbing to as much as 32 C.
According to the Jeju Provincial Meteorological Administration on the 1st, Jeju Island will be mostly cloudy during the day and gradually turn overcast from the night. By 9 a.m., light drizzle of less than 0.1 mm may fall in some areas.
Showers are expected to begin in earnest between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., depending on the area. Expected rainfall is 5 to 30 mm.
By area, showers are more likely in Seogwipo, Seongsan, Sancheon-dan, Hannan, and Seongpanak. Daytime highs are forecast at 31 C in Jeju City and Seogwipo, 30 C in Seongsan, and 31 C in Gosan-ri.
Rain will return on the 2nd. From noon to late at night, occasional rain is expected in some areas, mainly east of Hallasan. Expected rainfall is 5 to 20 mm.
On the 3rd, most of Jeju Island will be mostly cloudy, with 5 to 10 mm of rain in some areas. On the 4th, rain will continue in some places until morning, after which skies will be partly cloudy from the afternoon.
The heat is not expected to ease easily. Daytime highs in Jeju Province are forecast at 30 to 31 C on the 1st, 30 to 32 C on the 2nd, 30 to 31 C on the 3rd, and 29 to 30 C on the 4th.
On August 31, daily highs in Jeju Province ranged from 29.8 C to 33.9 C, while daily lows were between 25.9 C and 27.4 C. The Jeju Provincial Meteorological Administration said the heat and tropical nights are likely to continue for now and urged residents to take care of their health.
At sea, winds and waves are expected to strengthen from the 3rd. Waters off Jeju Island are forecast to see waves of 1.0 to 3.0 meters on the 4th, while the inner and outer seas south of Jeju Island are expected to rise to as high as 3.5 meters.
