Discovering tastes and proposing policies: 'Youth Culture Week' to be held in Hongdae

[Financial News] '2026 Youth Culture Week,' an event that connects young people's search for their tastes with cultural experiences, will be held in Hongdae, Seoul.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the 1st, the event will take place on Sept. 4-5 at 68 Eoulmadang-ro in Mapo District, Seoul, under the theme, 'Deepening reflection and sharing tastes.' Through lectures, performances, hands-on activities and community programs, the event aims to bring together young people's cultural sensibilities and opinions.
The venue will be arranged into four spaces: the basement level, 'Stage of Reflection and Inspiration'; the first floor, 'Plaza of Taste'; the second floor, 'Lounge of Connection'; and the fifth floor, 'Workshop of Sharing.' Each floor is designed with a different purpose so that lectures, performances, experiences and policy proposals can flow naturally into one another.
On the first day, A-young Kim, a director at Muze, and content creator Hans will each hold talks on the themes, 'How can taste become work and culture?' and 'How running became content.' A performance by the three-member modern rock band Dear Cloud will follow.
On the 5th, Yoon Tae-yong, the operator of the sketch comedy channel 'Ddeep,' will give a lecture on the theme, 'Empathy begins with experience.' Writer Seungyeon Cho will also host a humanities forum under the theme, 'Designing my own standards in the age of AI.'
Singer-songwriters Kim Pureum and Oh Ji-eun will also perform. Oh Ji-eun will speak on the theme, 'To keep doing what you love for a long time.'
On the first floor, organizers will run booths called 'Today's Culture Recipe,' 'Culture Prescription Center' and 'My Own Stationery Shop.'
The second floor will feature booths for youth culture and club communities, including culture, sports, music, mental healing and humanities forums, as well as a promotional booth for youth culture policies. At the youth intern booth, the ministry will introduce its youth policies through a balance game.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's online policy proposal platform, 'Garden of Youth Voices,' will have a booth that connects opinions on cultural experiences to policy proposals. The idea is to go beyond simple viewing and link young people's voices to policy suggestions.
The event is free. Advance registration is available through Naver Booking until Sept. 3.
Jeong Hyang-mi, director general of the ministry's Arts and Culture Policy Bureau, said, "I hope young people will use this opportunity to discover their own thoughts and tastes and gain a valuable experience of creating culture together." She added that the ministry will establish a policy foundation so young people can challenge themselves and grow through culture.
