[Financial News] Broadcaster Park Soo-hong and his wife, Kim Da-ye, have not posted on social networking service since apologizing over a controversy involving a delayed flight departure.
Until the controversy, the two had regularly shared updates on social networking service. No recent posts have been uploaded, and after the comments section on the apology statement was closed, related comments have appeared on a YouTube video released on the 24th.
Earlier, after boarding a flight to Guam with his family, Park said he would get off the plane when the child began crying, but later changed his mind. The flight was delayed by about an hour, and after criticism emerged over the inconvenience caused to others, he apologized to passengers and the airline, saying it was a "poor judgment."
In his apology, Park said, "During the recent flight departure process, our family caused a delayed departure. This caused great inconvenience by taking up many people's valuable time, and it also affected airline staff. I bow my head and offer my sincere apology."
Explaining what happened at the time, he said, "Right after boarding, the child was crying so much that I could not even sit down properly, and in my panic, I made a poor judgment." He added, "Because I thought the passengers would suffer even greater inconvenience from the child's crying during the long flight, I initially told a cabin crew member that we would get off."
Park said, "While waiting on the plane, the child stopped crying and I said we would stay on board again, but I did not realize that this could significantly delay time for security checks and other procedures. This was entirely caused by my ignorance of airline procedures, and there is no excuse for it." He added, "Once again, I deeply apologize to the passengers and airline staff who suffered great inconvenience because of my shortcomings."
