Korea Aerospace University and Goyang City to Nurture Future Talent in Aviation and Drones

[Financial News] Korea Aerospace University (KAU) has opened its advanced aviation and drone education and research capabilities to the local community and has begun in earnest to cultivate talent for future mobility.
KAU's Aviation and Drone Convergence Innovation College Project Group announced on Aug. 31 that it held the '2026 Hwajeon-dong Blue Star Festa' at the Goyang Drone Anchor Center on Aug. 29 for local residents and students.
The event was organized to connect the local community with the future new-industry ecosystem by combining Goyang City's aviation and drone industry infrastructure with KAU's specialized expertise. KAU President Heo Hee-young, Goyang Special City Mayor Min Kyung-seon, Member of the National Assembly Han Jun-ho, and Aviation and Drone Convergence Innovation College Project Group Director Jung Dong-won were among the key attendees. They discussed the future direction of the aviation and drone sectors and ways to cooperate in nurturing future talent.
The event, which ran from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., drew many children, teenagers and local residents. Participants had the chance to handle aviation and drone technologies that are not easily accessible in everyday life, and to operate drones themselves. The experience helped them broaden their understanding of future technologies and explore possible career paths.
A KAU official said, "We hope this Blue Star Festa gave local residents and students a chance to experience the aviation and drone fields firsthand and to deepen their interest in future technologies." The official added, "KAU will continue to actively share its specialized expertise with the local community and operate a variety of programs that residents and students can take part in."
Meanwhile, KAU's Aviation and Drone Convergence Innovation College Project Group plans to continue expanding industry-linked education for future talent, as well as hands-on and extracurricular programs connected with the local community.
