According to a Financial News review of reports on the 31st, the Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency summoned Jeon that morning and questioned him as a suspect on defamation charges for spreading false information.
Jeon is accused of saying during a worship service at Sarang Jeil Church in Seongbuk District, Seoul, on May 10 that President Lee "did not finish middle school or high school, took the GED in a juvenile detention center, and then transferred to Chung-Ang University."
The Christian restoration center of the Protestant civic group Not_found filed a complaint with police the following day, May 11, saying Jeon's remarks were false.
Meanwhile, Jeon was indicted and detained on charges including instigating trespass into a building and instigating obstruction of official duties with special circumstances in connection with the riot at the Seoul Western District Court in January last year. He was later released on bail and is currently on trial without detention.
