Samsung Heavy Industries Wins Won 444.5 Billion Order for Container Ships, Expected to Exceed This Year's Target

[Financial News] Samsung Heavy Industries disclosed on the 31st that it had won an order for two container ships worth 444.5 billion won.
According to the filing, the order came from a shipping company in Africa, and the vessels are scheduled for delivery by December 2028.
With this deal, Samsung Heavy Industries' cumulative shipbuilding orders this year have reached $6.1 billion, or about 8.03 trillion won, for 36 vessels. It has already surpassed its annual target of $5.7 billion. By vessel type, the orders include four container ships, 14 LNG carriers including LNG-FSRUs, two ethane carriers, four gas carriers, and 12 crude oil carriers.
Including two FLNG orders worth $4.4 billion, such as the Delfin No. 1 and Coral North FLNG, its total cumulative orders stand at $10.5 billion, or about 14.4 trillion won. That means it has achieved 76% of its annual target of $13.9 billion.
The market is also watching to see whether additional orders for Delfin No. 2 and Western Canada will materialize. Considering this, industry observers expect Samsung Heavy Industries to easily exceed its annual order target this year.
A Samsung Heavy Industries official said, "Since we have already exceeded our annual order target in the shipbuilding segment, we will focus even more on selective orders centered on profitability."
