Qualcomm says it will step up its push into industrial AI and robotics with on-device AI

[Financial News] Qualcomm said it will strengthen its push into the AI market by applying on-device AI to industrial artificial intelligence, robotics and smart home appliances. Instead of relying on cloud-connected servers, the technology lets devices make decisions and act on their own. The company also plans to expand cooperation with domestic companies such as Samsung and LG.
Qualcomm Technologies held 'Qualcomm Dragonwing IoT Day' on the 31st at The Grand Lotte in Jung District, Seoul, for major domestic customers and partners. The company shared the latest technologies and real-world applications in industrial AI and IoT, and outlined strategies to deepen cooperation with Korean companies.
The event, which was expanded from last year's 'Qualcomm IoT Partner & Tech Day,' drew about 500 attendees from major customers and partners, including Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Hyundai Motor Company, SK Telecom, KT Corporation and LG Uplus.
The event featured use cases showing how AI and IoT technologies are being applied in industrial settings, with themes including industrial automation, robotics, smart homes and appliances, agentic AI, Arduino, Edge Impulse and industrial cameras.
In particular, Qualcomm unveiled a range of products, including the 'Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ10 Robotics Reference Design,' which supports high-performance on-device AI and perception and control functions, the 'Arduino VENTUNO Q' powered by the Qualcomm IQ8 Series Compute Platform, and AI media stations based on the Dragonwing Q8 series.
During the technology sessions, Qualcomm introduced 'Qualcomm Linux 2.0,' 'Qualcomm Intelligent Robotics Product Software Development Kit (QIRP SDK)' and 'Qualcomm AI Workflow' for use in IoT and robotics. The company said these offerings are designed to make it easier for developers to apply AI and IoT technologies during development.
Presentations from partners included Hyundai Motor Robotics Lab, SST, Integrit, Ditect, Point Mobile, Access Lab, Advantech and Wiseplus. Each company shared strategies and real-world examples of how it is accelerating growth in the AI, robotics and IoT industries based on the ecosystem it has built with Qualcomm.
The venue featured 16 demos prepared by Qualcomm and 10 partners. They were designed to let visitors see Dragonwing-based technologies and solutions in action, including robotics and vision AI applications in industrial settings.
Kwon said, "To realize the potential of agentic AI, intelligence must be seamlessly connected and operate across devices, the edge and the cloud." He added, "We will create more IoT and robotics use cases with our domestic customers and partners."
