Daegu Metropolitan Council Opens 328th Extraordinary Session to Review 34 Agenda Items

【Financial News Daegu = Reporter Kim Jang-wook】The Daegu Metropolitan Council will open its 328th regular session and begin addressing public concerns.
The council will hold the 328th regular session for 16 days, from Sept. 1 to Sept. 16. During the session, it will deliberate 34 agenda items, including the fiscal 2025 accounts for Daegu Metropolitan City and the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education, the city’s second supplementary budget bill, and proposed ordinances. It will also carry out field visits and other legislative activities.
In this session, the council will review a total of 34 agenda items, including five budget and settlement bills such as the approval of the fiscal 2025 accounts, 16 proposed ordinances for enactment or revision, eight consent motions, and five other items.
The proposed ordinances include a wide range of bills introduced by council members. They cover a full revision of the ordinance on improving information and communications accessibility for vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities and older adults in Daegu Metropolitan City (proposed by Councilor Kim Joo-beom, Dalseo District 6); a partial revision of the ordinance on promoting women's economic activity and preventing career breaks in Daegu Metropolitan City (proposed by Councilor Lim Hyo-shin, proportional representation); a partial revision of the ordinance on revitalizing the local construction industry in Daegu Metropolitan City (proposed by Councilor Bae Chang-gyu, Dalseong County 3); and a partial revision of the ordinance on drug prevention education for students in the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education (proposed by Councilor Namgung Hyun-sook, proportional representation).
At the first plenary session at 10 a.m. on the 1st, the council will hold an opening ceremony and then vote on the procedural agenda needed to run the session.
At the second plenary session at 2 p.m. on the 2nd, the council will hold two interpellations on major Gunwi County issues, including a call for the swift implementation of TK New Airport and the full lifting of the land transaction permit zone (Councilor Park Chang-seok, Gunwi County), as well as a question on how to resolve the AI data center and Daegu–North Gyeongsang administrative integration (Councilor Lee Seong-o, Suseong-gu 3). Five five-minute floor speeches are also scheduled, including one that says, "The city’s Line 4 should now be decided as a monorail" (Councilor Lee Won-woo, Dong-gu 1).
From the 3rd to the 15th, each standing committee will review the agenda items and visit sites across the city to hear from residents and people on the ground while closely checking the progress of city administration.
From the 10th to the 14th, the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts will meet to review the approval of the fiscal 2025 accounts for Daegu Metropolitan City and the Office of Education, as well as Daegu Metropolitan City's approval request for fiscal 2025 reserve fund spending and the 2026 second supplementary budget bill and revised fund management plan.
Finally, the Daegu Metropolitan Council will hold its third plenary session at 10 a.m. on the 16th, vote on the agenda items that have passed standing committee review, deliver five-minute floor speeches on each field, and then close the 328th regular session.
