Hyundai Avante Hybrid Recalled in Singapore Over Fire Risk From Overheating, 731 Units Affected

[Jakarta, Indonesia = Reporter Aulia Maulida Hamdani] Hyundai Motor Company will recall 731 Avante Hybrid vehicles in Singapore over a fire risk caused by overheating transistors in the vehicle power control unit (PCU).
According to local media and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on the 31st, the recall covers Avante Hybrid vehicles produced between Oct. 22, 2024, and Jan. 7, 2026. That accounts for about 80% of the 917 Avante Hybrid vehicles registered in Singapore from 2024 through July 2026.
It was found that transistors inside the power control unit (PCU) could overheat. If that happens, the vehicle may fail to start or switch to limp mode, which limits output, and warning lights will appear on the dashboard. In some vehicles, overheating could also cause localized heat damage, including melted parts or fire.
Komoco Motors, Hyundai Motor Company's official distributor in Singapore, said it received recall approval from the Land Transport Authority on the 27th and is now preparing recall notices to send to affected owners.
The recall is not limited to Singapore. More than 54,000 vehicles in the United States are also included in a separate recall over the same defect.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the investigation into the defect began in December 2024. As of May 2026, Hyundai Motor Company had reported four accidents in the United States linked to the issue, including one that resulted in a fire.
