"Let's Prevent Concerns Over ID Forgery": Telecom Trio Launches 'PASS' QR Verification Campaign

[Financial News] SK Telecom, KT Corporation, and LG Uplus are moving to expand use of the ID QR verification feature on the mobile authentication platform PASS.
The three telecom companies said they will jointly run the "QR Once, Double the Peace of Mind" campaign from the 31st through Oct. 5.
Recently, cases of ID forgery and alteration have been increasing through apps that mimic mobile ID screens or through composite images. As a result, the limits of ID checks that rely only on visual inspection have come under scrutiny.
The telecom trio launched the campaign to help verify the authenticity of IDs more safely on site through QR verification.
PASS IDs use security technologies such as verification of activation and device information, screenshot prevention, dynamic images, and time-limited verification to prevent ID forgery and alteration.
Through this campaign, the three companies plan to encourage active use of the PASS app's QR authentication feature at locations where IDs are checked. They also intend to inform the public that forging or altering an ID can lead to punishment under the Road Traffic Act, and to spread a safer ID verification culture through QR scanning.
During the campaign period, customers who verify another person's ID using the QR authentication feature in the PASS app, or who use their own PASS ID QR code, can enter a prize draw through the event page.
The three telecom companies said, "We hope this campaign will help establish a culture in which people verify identities through QR checks without concerns about ID forgery or alteration," adding, "We will continue working to create an environment where anyone can safely verify IDs."
