Into History... Gapyeong History Archive to Open Temporarily on September 1

[Financial News, Gapyeong = Reporter Kim Kyung-soo] A space where visitors can see and experience the history and culture of Gyeonggi's Gapyeong up close is set to open.
According to Gapyeong County on the 31st, the county will begin temporary operations of the Gapyeong History Archive, which houses materials on the county's history, starting September 1.
The archive is located on the second floor of the Gapyeong Cultural Center at 121 Munhwa-ro, Gapyeong-eup. It covers a total area of 310 square meters.
The archive will feature exhibits such as 'Life,' which shows how people in Gapyeong have lived; 'People of Gapyeong,' which introduces local figures who have brought honor to the region; 'The Story of Hanji,' which explores traditional Korean paper; and 'The Visible Storage,' where visitors can see how historical materials are preserved.
Programs that visitors can join directly have also been prepared. Through pattern scratching and the heritage VR experience, they can learn about Gapyeong's history and culture in an easy and enjoyable way. However, making hanji lanterns requires advance registration.
Educational programs for group visitors will also be offered. The county also plans to introduce integrated education programs that connect cultural heritage with other fields.
During the temporary operation period, the archive will be open from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. All exhibitions and hands-on programs are free of charge.
Special lectures during the summer and winter vacations, education programs for adults, and events tied to various anniversaries will also be rolled out in stages. The official opening is scheduled for January 2027.
Through this temporary operation, the county plans to gather visitor feedback and improve its exhibitions and educational programs.
