South Chungcheong Province Launches People-Centered 'Chungnam-style AI Basic Society'

[Financial News, Hongseong = Reporter Kim Won-joon] South Chungcheong Province (Chungnam) is moving ahead with efforts to build a "Chungnam-style AI basic society" that expands industrial artificial intelligence (AI) technology into residents' daily lives and the protection of basic rights.
 The province said on the 31st that, with the launch of the 9th popularly elected administration, it created the nation's first AI Basic Society Division and is now operating a planning team to establish the vision and strategy for a Chungnam-style AI basic society.
 The AI basic society being promoted as a national policy task by the government is a society in which the basic rights of all citizens are actively guaranteed through AI technology.
 Chungnam plans to establish a basic blueprint for a Chungnam-style AI basic society that covers not only care, healthcare and safety, but also transportation, culture, sports and the environment, all of which are closely tied to residents' everyday lives.
 The planning team is made up of provincial research institutions such as the Chungnam Research Institute and the Social Services Agency, as well as outside experts. It held its first meeting on the 25th at the Chungnam Research Institute, with provincial officials and department heads from the institute in attendance. After sharing detailed implementation schedules, the team plans to hold strategy meetings and, by September, define the concept and policy areas of the Chungnam-style AI basic society, while also preparing a vision, strategy, project development framework and resident communication measures. It then plans to operate a working task force led by the administrative vice governor through October and finalize and announce the vision for the "Chungnam-style AI basic society," taking the lead on the national policy task.
 As part of this process, the province also plans to run a communication and participation system that will continuously reflect residents' voices from policy planning to implementation, including open forums, a resident participation platform, an idea contest and the building of a pool of experts and private companies.
 Koo Sang, head of the AI Basic Society Health and Welfare Division at Chungnam, said, "We will do our utmost to develop a people-centered AI basic society model that residents can truly feel by faithfully reflecting Chungnam's characteristics and the voices from the field."
