POSCO E&C announced on the 31st that it had developed 'Anwoollim R,' a floor impact noise reduction technology designed for remodeled apartments, and became the first in South Korea to obtain certification under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Floor Impact Sound Performance Test System.
The Floor Impact Sound Performance Test System verifies performance on-site after actual construction, making it stricter than certification at the design stage. In particular, remodeled apartments that must use existing structures have been limited by thin floor slabs, which made them vulnerable to noise. POSCO E&C, however, succeeded in improving both the floor and ceiling structures at the same time, minimizing space loss while effectively blocking noise.
According to performance tests conducted by an accredited testing agency, Anwoollim R achieved Grade 3 for heavy impact noise, such as children walking or running, and Grade 1 for light impact noise, such as small objects falling. It fully met the same legal standards applied to new apartments.
With this certification, POSCO E&C has secured remodeling-specific technology in addition to its existing new-build noise reduction technologies, 'Anwoollim' and 'Anwoollim P,' completing a full floor impact noise technology portfolio.
A POSCO E&C official said, "Anwoollim R is a technology that improves residents' satisfaction and asset value in remodeled homes at the same time by reducing ceiling height loss while controlling floor impact noise." The official added, "We will continue to lead efforts to improve housing quality in aging apartment complexes."
