Gwangju Bank Customers to Access Financial Services at Post Office Counters Starting in October

Especially for customers with high demand for face-to-face banking services, such as rural residents and older adults who often need more time to visit a branch, access is expected to improve further as they will be able to use more than 320 post office counters in the Jeonnam-Gwangju area.
According to Gwangju Bank on the 31st, it signed the joint-use partnership agreement for post office counters with Korea Post, KFTC, and Busan Bank at Gwanghwamun Post Office in Seoul on the 28th. The signing ceremony was attended by Gwangju Bank president Jeong Il-seon, head of Korea Post Park In-hwan, KFTC president Chae Byeong-deuk, and Busan Bank president Kim Seong-ju.
The bank said the agreement is designed to proactively respond to the expanded regional living area and financial demand following the launch of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Metropolitan City in July. It also aims to improve convenience for local residents in using financial services.
Gwangju Bank said it plans to complete system integration and development with the post office counter network by September. It will then review transaction stability and user convenience in October before launching the service.
Once the service begins, Gwangju Bank customers will be able to carry out basic banking tasks such as deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and account inquiries not only at the bank's branches but also at post office counters and ATMs nationwide, without additional fees. The number of available post office counters reaches more than 2,380 nationwide, including more than 320 in the Jeonnam-Gwangju area.
Gwangju Bank president Jeong Il-seon said, "By adding the post office counter network to our existing branches and digital channels, we plan to build a dense financial service system that covers both urban and rural areas." He added, "Through this, we will continue expanding access points so customers can use face-to-face financial services closer to home, even in areas without branches."
He also said, "We will actively respond to the expanded living area and financial demand following the launch of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Metropolitan City, and further strengthen our role as a regional leading bank that also serves customers who have difficulty using digital financial services."
