Wonju-si to Reflect Citizens' Voices in Policy ... 'Tteutmoa' to Be Held on September 1

[Financial News, Wonju = Kim Gi-seop] Wonju-si will hold the first citizen-sovereignty neighborhood meeting, "Tteutmoa," where it will exchange views with more than 300 residents.
According to Wonju-si on the 31st, the first citizen-sovereignty neighborhood meeting, "Tteutmoa," will be held at 1:30 p.m. on September 1 at Namsangol Cultural Center. Tteutmoa is designed to share the policy direction of major initiatives and campaign pledges of the 9th popularly elected administration with residents, and to reflect everyday problems and ideas in policy. It is the first public forum marking the start of an era of citizen sovereignty. The event also revives the community spirit of neighborhood meetings, where neighbors once gathered in one place to discuss both major and minor matters in their community.
The event moves away from the traditional administrative approach of one-way policy briefings and instead focuses on communication, with the mayor asking questions and citizens responding. Through this format, the city aims to hear a wide range of ideas and experiences from residents and explore policy directions together. Participants will hold group discussions centered on 14 agenda items closely related to daily life, discussing ideas to improve the impact and sense of change from the pledges, as well as possible problems and solutions.
Wonju-si plans to review the policy validity of citizens' proposals, the feasibility of implementation, and budgetary as well as legal and institutional conditions. Proposals that can be adopted will be incorporated into detailed action plans for existing pledges and major policies. Items requiring further discussion will be refined through consultations with relevant agencies and follow-up reviews. The city also plans to keep residents informed of the review results and implementation progress for each proposal.
Wonju-si Mayor Koo Ja-yeol said, "What citizens point out through their experience and voices are the things that the administration has not fully noticed." He added, "We will do our utmost in preparation so that Tteutmoa becomes the first step for citizens to directly take part in the policy-making process and connect their ideas to real change."
