National Museum of Urban Architecture to Open in 2027... Gyeongnam Officials and Architects Visit the Site

[Financial News] The National Museum of Urban Architecture, South Korea's first museum dedicated to urban architecture, will open in 2027 after exhibition construction by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
NAACC said on the 31st that more than 50 officials from Gyeongsangnam-do and architects visited the site before its opening on the 28th to look for examples that could be applied to local architectural policy.
The National Museum of Urban Architecture is a facility that collects, exhibits and researches materials related to cities and architecture in Korea and abroad. It was built with a total floor area of 21,091 square meters, spanning two basement levels and three stories above ground.
After construction is completed, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, which oversees exhibitions, will carry out the interior exhibition work. The museum is scheduled to open officially in 2027 as the second museum in the National Museum Complex.
After hearing an explanation of the overall development plan for the National Museum Complex and the progress of the National Museum of Urban Architecture, the delegation conducted an on-site inspection. They also discussed ways to promote public architectural culture and apply it to architectural policy in Gyeongnam.
A Gyeongnam provincial official who took part in the visit said, "It was a good opportunity to improve our expertise by directly checking the spatial layout and construction methods on site," adding, "We will actively apply the experience we gained this time to future projects in the province."
The Children’s Museum is already operating at the National Museum Complex. Following the Urban Architecture Museum, the Design Museum and the Digital Heritage Center are set to open in 2029, and the National Archives Museum in 2030.
Jeong Chung-mu, head of the National Museum Complex team at NAACC, said, "I hope this visit helped advance local architectural culture and share best practices," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that the museums to be built later are carried out without setbacks, so that the National Museum Complex can establish itself as a cultural hub representing South Korea."
